New Year’s Organizing Revolution – Week 2

Week two challenge over at A Bowl Full of Lemons is The Kitchen. I took on the challenge and kicked it into high gear over the weekend. I don't have a lot of space in this old house's kitchen; but I do the best with what I have trust me, it's come a long way over the years.

So here we go....
One cabinet needing attention pretty bad was under the cook-top stove.  I decided to pull everything out and relocate the seasonal items in an cabinet I have in the "Office/Party Room".

I also started a box to take to good will and I think I even threw some things out...
Here's a pic with everything on the floor.

This also includes an adjacent cabinet's contents... I forgot to take a picture of the before, but trust me...it needed attention too.

much much better!

I don't have a pantry, so food is kept in couple different places. The only organization I think I had before was that the canned goods got thrown in down here:
It always seems to get disorganized ...it just isn't the best space.  I'm thinking about ordering this from Amazon.

still thinking about it though.... need to measure and need to evaluate if it takes up more space than saves...so in the mean time, here's what I did:
Above this cabinet is where we keep the snacks, dry foods, etc.. (heavy on the et cetera)
Before
After
Here is a shot from across the room..before/after:
(please pretend the pictures look professionally captured and not snapped by the average beancounter from Oklahoma)

Here's a before and after of the refrigerator:

One more before and after, the silverware drawer:

I still have some cleaning to do and I'll try to get that done tonight, but I did get some things crossed off my To-Do List, so this has been a victory for me.  I really enjoy getting ideas from everyone that participates, so thanks for sharing your blog/pinterest with me!

Tickler File ....Success!

I've tried this numerous times but it never really got to clicking smoothly for me...until now.  I'm really liking the set up I have and I've been checking my folders every day.  It's kept the miscellaneous papers off my desk...you know, the ones I had to keep on my desk to remind me to take action when it was due. Well, the paper in the folder has actually helped remind me ..like a little email to myself.

Organizing Revolution...Challenge 1: Office

So I decided to participate in my my first organizing challenge...I've been sitting around wishing my home were more organized as I spent hours surfing the web for inspiration which included hours logged on Pinterest.

Before
After

When I get the email from A Bowl Full of Lemons announcing the New Year's Organizing Revolution, I decided to get off my butt and participate.

The first of the challenge is the office.  This has always been an area I let get cluttered ...even at work, I just seem to work better when papers are everywhere.

This is my little corner nook in the "Party Room".  While it isn't the worst there is (or has been, see below) it definitely needed some help.  So I spent a few hours on New Year's Eve  organizing, decluttering, and cleaning.

The files in the lateral cabinet are pretty organized, so I left those alone, but on top of the cabinet is a mess...  I want to keep that clear to do my weekly GTD reviews, filofax in hand..er...on desk.

The black and white box is my tickler file that I'm working diligently at keeping up with.  I think I've worked out a system that will help me eliminate the paperwork on the desk.  I am one of those "out of sight, out of mind" gals...but with the right mapping (next action lists in filofax), I think I'll be alright.

.....and I'm including one more picture from 3 years ago to show the true before picture.   Um, yes.....I'm pleased with the improvement!

thanks for stopping by!

Sunday's Couponing Adventure

The sales clerks at my local CVS Store are used to seeing me on Sundays. I'm sure I'm not the only "couponer" that frequents the store each Sunday....especially when you get things for next to nothing!

While this week's savings wasn't as big as I've been able to get in the past, my purchase included things we really needed and because they were on sale and I had a coupon, it was a deal :)

Just as The Krazy Coupon Lady's website explains, I strategically arranged my purchase into a couple different transactions this time to get the most in product with the least out-of-pocket expense. I started with $9 in Extra Care Bucks, bought $71.41 in products (picture below), and paid $41.91 + tax.  That's a 41.37% savings and I'm pleased with that.

I'm digging the Covergirl makeup sale - buy one at regular, get one 50%. and with a $1 manufacture's coupon, I was able to get 4 items for $27.96...about a 30% savings.

forgot the 2 pkgs of M&Ms sitting on counter...

Oh The Weather Outside is Frightful...

...just getting in the habit of posting.  Today there was only a slight chance of precipitation ... but it snowed for 2 hours. Was very pretty.  Went to get the Honda serviced, hit Hobby Lobby for after Christmas sales, then Dusty's for a few new things for me.  gym bag, scarf necklace I couldn't pass up, new purse that's big enough to contain my A5 Filofax, and this new headband. Wadda think?

Hello & Good-bye 2012

So obviously i am not a serious blogger....  haven't been here for years. But after reading a blog and inspired to play along, I'm dusting off this book cover and re-opening the blog.  Button is on the side and when I learn more about Linking Up, i'll participate.
Happy Organizing :)
