On Your Mark.. Get Set...

It's hard to believe December is nearly half over and 2008 will soon be another year in the book. I recently read December is a month where we wrap up being thankful and start thinking about making changes in our lives with New Year Resolutions.

I'm hoping this year will be the year I see change.

What will be some of the changes? First and foremost: change in the way my house always looks. I'm so tired of fighting the battle of clutter.

I am enrolled in an online workshop called Organizing 101 that starts January 13th and I'm very excited about it! Aby Garvey is an organizing expert and if I remember correctly, I found her blog a few months ago on this blogger's AWESOME website. I bought her co-authored book "The Organized & Inspired Scrapbooker" and I'm also enrolled in Get Organized and Be Inspired 2009 led by Wendy Smedley.

So I should have no excuse to get and stay organized!
Maybe you'd like to join me?

Zachary Andrew

Finally! Zachary made his appearance into this world at 4:03 a.m. on Saturday, November 22, 2008. A lot bigger than his older brother, Zach weighed in 6 pounds 13.3 ounces and stretched out to 18.5 inches long. Ethan only weighed 4.3 pounds and was 17 inches long.

My grandson is a quiet little fellow...his first cries were instantly quieted when he heard his mother's voice. It was so precious to witness his birth and share my son's pure joy.

Grandson # 1 was so excited to meet his baby brother. He loved and kissed on Zach and just smiled when he figured out "baby brother out of mommy's tummy".
What a wonderful day this was!
And to add a little icing to the top of the cake, the Sooners spanked Texas Tech on the football field which made everyone in the family very happy. Boomer Sooner Baby!

Still No Baby

Forgot to post earlier - Daughter-in-law is still pregnant, which really is a good thing as she's just 37 weeks now. They went to the hospital Friday night and after being monitored for about an hour, was sent home to rest. She's 75% effaced and dilated to a 2...which could mean she's in for a few more weeks! Since Ethan was only a little more than 4 pounds and nearly 4 weeks early, I'd prefer grandson # 2 stay in the "oven" to bake a little longer!

Small Progress

So during my "lunch break" yesterday, I cleaned out the cubbyboard in the bathroom. Armed with cleaners and trash bags, I successfully purged things in the cabinet that for the life of me, I have no idea why we ever purchased! Ahhh the satisfaction that comes when clutter disappears...
I had a brilliant idea to use the acrylic drawers I purchased years ago from Store It In Style in Oklahoma City (sorry, no web site). Originally purchased for storing scrapbooking inventory, they really haven't been put to much use lately as I haven't been a consultant for two years now.

The drawers come with dividers so I have lots of space to keep things organized now. This should keep the clutter off the surface....well, after I remind the 15 y/o daughter to do so!

Next project: Master Bedroom Closet....or perhaps start on popcorn ceiling and carpet removal, wall painting, and hardwood floor staining/finishing. Volunteers anyone?!?!?

Memorable Week

Funny how this turns out to be the very first post...I'm sitting in the Atlanta Airport (Hartsfield) waiting to board my flight back to Oklahoma City. I wasn't scheduled to come home until Friday, but I got a call my from beautiful daughter-in-law telling me she has been having labor contractions every 20 minutes for the last 12 hours or so. On Monday of this week, she came off the medication that had been prescribed months ago to stop contractions. I suppose the doctors think 36 weeks is fine. I am good with it as long as my next grandson is healthy :)

I won't be land in Oklahoma until 8 tonight, but hopefully nothing will happen before I get there. I'm going to be fine even if she doesn't give birth tonight...It was time for me to come home.

Imagine if this is the week he's born. What a memorable week...the presidential election on Tuesday of historic proportions. I am truly excited
to see the changes that will happen under Obama. I am thrilled I was alive to watch Martin Luther King Jr's dream finally come true.

I'm excited to see Ethan. I am going to shower him with affection as he needs to know how special he is to me! Not sure what special present he's going to get, but that's definitely on my list of things to do before Grandson # 2 gets here.
More details later....

****By the way, the picture above was taken by my very dear friend, LaShawna. Check out her website and schedule your family pictures today! She rocks!!! http://www.lashawnakphoto.com/
